The Root Foundation was created to address the interconnected challenges that affect community stability in Baton Rouge.
Too often, workforce instability, youth disengagement, family crisis, and economic hardship are treated as separate issues. But in real life, they overlap. When families are unstable, workforce participation suffers. When youth lack mentorship and direction, communities feel the impact. When employers struggle to find and retain reliable workers, economic growth slows.
The Root Foundation was created to address these issues together.
Our mission is to strengthen families, prepare individuals for opportunity, and rebuild community stability through an integrated ecosystem of youth leadership, workforce readiness, and family support. At The Root Foundation, we strive to improve the lives of underprivileged children by providing them with education, food, and shelter. Our aim is to break the cycle of poverty and give these children a chance at a better future.

We believe meaningful change starts with listening to and building alongside the community.

We recognize that opportunity is strongest when family, personal stability, and workforce readiness are addressed together.

We are building for lasting impact, not short-term fixes.

We believe public, private, and community partners all have a role to play in transformation.
